Find the balance
The hem matters as much as the waistband. A wide opening can sit over a substantial shoe, while a tapered ankle puts more of the sneaker on display. Check the inseam and rise alongside the waist measurement, and consider whether you want a clean break or a little stacking.
Read the garment, not just the label
Check the composition, garment measurements and care instructions for the particular piece. Similar names can describe different cuts across collections. Measure a garment you enjoy wearing laid flat, then compare the chest, length, waist or inseam as appropriate. Keep any care treatment consistent with the label.
