Find the balance
When the palette is restrained, proportion does more of the work. Compare the length of a hoodie with the rise of your trousers and the volume of your shoes. Different seasons and pieces can have different cuts; use the garment measurements rather than treating the label as a single fit.
Read the garment, not just the label
Check the composition, garment measurements and care instructions for the particular piece. Similar names can describe different cuts across collections. Measure a garment you enjoy wearing laid flat, then compare the chest, length, waist or inseam as appropriate. Keep any care treatment consistent with the label.
